On December 8, 2011 successfully completed the pilot delivery of “Management of Volunteers” Training Programme in Bulgaria. Its aim was to contribute to the process of management capacity building and to overcoming any difficulties that might be facing management teams in the selection, recruitment and motivation of volunteers.
The course was attended from 13 managers of volunteers from various leading national an international third sector organizations, operating in the country. Among the most valuable aspect of the course the participants identified the well structured and relevant to their every-day duties information, as well as the interactive training methods which helped the establishment of extensive co-operational network and best practice exchange. Extremely valuable to them in practical terms were the modules, connected with the legal, ethical and social aspects of the management of volunteers, methods of training and development volunteers in the real working environment, as well as the methods for selection and recruitment of volunteers.
At the end of the course all participants shared that they have achieved all their goals which motivated them to attend the training programme. Apart from that the knowledge they acquired during the training sessions helped them to significantly improve their skills. They define the course as a very good addition to the knowledge they have gained while implementing their every-day duties and therefore they will keep all received materials as a useful reference source in the future.

At the end of January 2011 will be held the long-term evaluation of training which should examine the transfer of the newly acquired knowledge in a real working environment and their impact on the organizational performance.
In February 2011 Bulgarian Development Agency plans to deliver another training programme aimed at the operating in Bulgaria third sector organizations - “Legal aspects of managing volunteers”.
